Göttingen is beautiful – so is the surrounding area
Göttingen and its city centre are beautiful. But there are still good reasons to get out of Göttingen. There are many worthwhile destinations for a nice excursion in Göttingen’s surroundings. For example, the Welfen Castle in Hannoversch Münden. Or a visit to the European Bread Museum in Ebergötzen. You could also take the opportunity to visit the Wilhelm Busch Mill. In his childhood, the great story writer played here with his best friend, the miller’s son. Later, these experiences became the basis for his stories of “Max and Moritz”. A trip to Einbeck, 40 kilometres away, is also very worthwhile: Here you can not only admire the beautiful half-timbered town, which is famous for its brewing art, but also taste this very cool gold during a brewery tour. But perhaps you should only do this after a tour of the car museum PS. Speicher. On six floors, the museum might make you want to go for a spin. If you prefer a more medieval atmosphere, you should visit the castles in Göttingen’s surrounding area: Plesse Castle, the castle ruins of Hardenberg, Hanstein Castle or Berlepsch Castle, for example.
